4 RB’s you need to draft this season

July 26, 2024

Here are my early 2024 RB rankings, and 4 RB’s you need to draft this season to have an edge on your competition. With the influx of more and more resources, your competition is getting smarter, and it is even more paramount to be finding value at every turn in the draft. Here are 4 examples of RB’s you should target in different spots throughout the draft.

Bijan Robinson

1. Bijan Robinson has every chance to be the RB1 overall this year, but is currently drafted as the RB3 off the board.

Why, you ask?

  1. Arthur smith is gone, no longer sabotaging him at the goal line.
  2. Kirk Cousins is in town, and a huge upgrade over the past regime.
  3. Bijan will receive a monster workload this upcoming season, and be used in a similar role to that of CMC.

Brian Robinson Jr.

2. Brian Robinson Jr., currently being drafted as the RB31 off the board, has every opportunity to have a borderline top 12 RB season.

Why, you ask?

  1. Brian Robinson finished last year as the RB22 on the season  behind a broken offensive line and an inept Ron Rivera.
  2. This season in comes Kliff Kingsbury with a new offense that resurrected an aging James Conner’s career.
  3. For those of you worried about Austin Ekeler’s presence, don’t be. He is replacing Antonio Gibson’s role, who is not only better than him at this stage of Ekeler’s career, but also didnt hinder Robinson from being a 3 down back last year.

This brings us to another RB you need to draft this upcoming season, that can be found in the back end of the 8th Round.

Gus Edwards

3. Gus Edwards is currently being drafted as the RB38, but is primed to be the starting RB for a chargers offense coached by the infamous Greg Roman.

Why, you ask?

  1. The Gus Bus was brought in this off-season by Greg Roman himself, and frankly doesnt have much competition for touches.
  2. JK Dobbins is recovering from yet another injury, and will not be playing at 100% this year.
  3. Kimani Vidal is a rookie who will definitely be given every chance to perform, but will not be the pass blocking virtuoso that is Gus Edwards. This coaching staff is always going to focus on QB security over flashiness.

Antonio Gibson

4. Antonio Gibson joins a new backfield this season after being signed by the Patriots. Currently being drafted as the RB42, Gibson has the potential to steal this starting job from Rhamondre Stevenson.

Why, you ask?

  1. Antonio Gibson is much more efficient than Rhamondre, more elusive, and frankly more dynamic.
  2. This coaching staff knows what they have in Rhamondre, and brought in Gibson to be a spark.
  3. This offense has very few dynamic weapons, and someone with Gibson’s abilities will be utilized, either in the backfield, or lined up as receiver.

What are your thoughts? Do you think you will draft these 4 RB’s this season?
