Make Hand-Building lineups faster and sharper | NFL DFS Week 3

September 21, 2025

Hi everyone β€” I’m Eric Heater from the Heater Dynasty Podcast! This week I’m excited to share not only my favorite DFS plays, but also the DraftKings DFS Lineup Builder Tool I built to make hand-building lineups faster and sharper.

If you love hand-building like me, this tool will be your best friend for sorting through players, finding hidden values, and locking in the best game stacks every slate.

πŸ‘‰ Available now on Patreon (season pass for $15, or free Week 3 trial with $5 off full-season) or on Etsy for those who prefer that route.

How My DFS Lineup Builder Works

The tool covers all 2025 NFL slates β€” main, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, and more. For Week 3, I focused on the 13-game main slate.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Player Pool Filters – Sort by value, opportunity, or roster %
  • Top Games Data – Highest over/unders (Cowboys vs. Bears leads with 50.5)
  • Stack Recommendations – Best team and game stacks for GPPs
  • Custom Metrics:
    • Value = projection Γ· (salary Γ· 1000)
    • Weighted Opportunity = rush attempts + (targets Γ— 2.2) Γ· salary

This setup makes it easy to identify mispriced players and leverage spots, to make hand-building lineups faster and sharper.

My Top DFS Plays for Week 3

Quarterbacks

  • Marcus Mariota ($4,000) – My QB lock. Elite rushing value at minimum price.
  • Justin Herbert ($6,200) – Safe, but pricier.
  • Dak Prescott – Game stack in Cowboys-Bears shootout.
  • Drake Maye – Playable, but I prefer Mariota.

Pick: Mariota is my go-to for salary relief.

Running Backs

  • Jordan Mason ($5,400) – Clear starter with Jones out.
  • Christian McCaffrey ($8,200) – Always worth it.
  • Kenneth Walker ($5,800) – Workhorse upside with Charbonnet banged up.
  • Jonathan Taylor – Titans matchup, big workload.

Others: Bijan Robinson, Jaylen Warren, Javonte Williams, Josh Jacobs.

Wide Receivers

  • Keenan Allen ($4,700) – Price is way too low, locked into my builds.
  • CeeDee Lamb – Smash play in the week’s highest total.
  • Rome Odunze – Strong bring-back with Lamb.
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba – Consistent volume.
  • Puka Nacua – Still underpriced.

Others: Jacoby Meyers, Drake London, Troy Franklin, Ricky Pearsall, Davante Adams.

Tight Ends

  • Trey McBride – Worth paying up for.
  • Tyler Warren – Rookie breakout candidate.
  • Juwan Johnson, Luke Musgrave – Value pivots.

Defenses

  • Colts – My top defense vs. Titans.
  • Packers – Playing lights out.
  • Falcons, Jaguars, Commanders – Solid pivots.

Tournament Strategy & Leverage

DFS tournaments are all about ownership leverage. Example:

  • Keenan Allen (13.3% ownership) will be chalky.
  • Pivot: Ladd McConkey (8.3%) for lower ownership at similar price.

These swaps give you a shot to separate from the field without punting production.

Final Thoughts

This slate sets up perfectly: the value trio of Mariota, Mason, and Keenan Allen frees up salary for studs like CMC and CeeDee Lamb. With my lineup builder, I can identify these edges faster and build with confidence.

βœ… Want to try the tool? It’s free this week on Patreon. Season access is just $10 with the Week 3 promo.

Let’s smash Week 3 β€” see you in the green!

β€” Eric Heater
